Placebo effect?

So, has anyone ever tried adding Chia seeds to their diet? I recently began incorporating 2 tbsp a day into mine. I am thinking they do have an effect! I noticed the last two runs how I was able to sweat profusely the entire distance, and my strength seemed to last longer? My times indicated better strength also? Maybe it's the mind because I am quite gullible and easily impressed! I also understand Chia seeds are good for joint health and inflammations....my right hip has been acting up a little? Kind of odd? Never really had hip probs....it loosened up well today as I put in 45 minutes in the mid day. Peace!

Food fight

I need to fight the urge to eat!!! Man if I could lose about 8 lbs I know I could gain the speed I need, and also alleviate some of the stress on the feet, legs, etc. I know the solution....replace eating with drinking water or watered down juice. If I could just discipline myself....that's the prob! All these years of eating all I want because I'd simply run it off.....that ain't workin' anymore! I'm trying to eat healthy and balanced but I have a huge sweet tooth!!! I love chocolate!!! Ice cream!! Cookies!!!
I had an 11 mile MP pace run on the schedule for today but I did not feel like it I think because I've not rested too well this week. I decided to do 4 X 1mile @ sub-nines. I managed to increase each mile with the last one at around 8:25 pace. I'm feeling so strong! I am a big believer in hill work and I am eschewing the notion that hills should only be done early in a training program....I believe the are integral for the duration. I'm gonna try anyway! 6 miles in 1:01:43, 4 X 1 mile repeats. Peace!

Focused

I have decided to be more focused on two things for this marathon. My hydration and diet. Usually I just drink what I drink and eat what I eat... but I am focusing on staying well hydrated through the duration of this program, and I am very particular about what I am eating.
My foods of choice? Peanut butter, raisins, fig newtons, bananas, waffles, any kind of noodles, and yes, Chinese!!! Also, I bought some power bars and have been trying them out.
My drinks, milk with Ovaltine, water, grapefruit juice (diluted with water) and vitamin water. O yes, coffee!!
Today the weather was just wonderful! 50ish, windy, rainy, but it felt good out there!

A 10K run on tap @ HM pace- A mile warm-up at 9:55.54 then these mile splits:

1-8:26.7
2-8:40.26
3-8:33.72
4-8:40.24
5-8:41.23
I felt great, finished the 10K in 54:37.57-that's 8:48's. The course was rolling hills with some nice flat segments. I'm dealing with some slight right hip discomfort but nothing debilitating.
Two runs left for this week! 4.1 easy tomorrow, and 12 at MP Saturday.
