Day 62- Halloween!

It is still beautiful weather here...temps are pushing mid to upper 70's, breeze is strong from the south and the skies are partly cloudy! I love this kind of weather!
I managed a 10 miler today. The time was poor but the work out effective. I am just glad to be able to cover the distance anymore...I guess.
I am slimming down VERY slowly, but slimming non the less. If I can stay healthy I am on track for another successful training segment! Happy Halloween! Peace!

Day 64-Shelled

It's that time of year....the acorns are down and still dropping. Oh how the Deer love White Oak acorns, too. I was assaulted today by a herd of acorns....I survived.
Also, we heard firearms discharging today. It's youth hunting weekend. The weather remains Indian Summer. So wonderful!! I ran another short and sweet run. Taking care to not OD on running (which I have done many times in the past). 3.1 miles easy. Finished the week with 26.1. Increase next week! Hope all is well with you! Peace!

Day 65

We are still enjoying a time of Indian Summer. I am flat lovin' it! These temps make for enjoyable miles! I am way ahead of the schedule this week! I ran a short 3 miler with one 4 minute pickup. This gives me 23 miles this week with a goal of 25. Thus, I will probably run 3-4 tomorrow!!
Tomorrow will be very busy but I ought to have time to relax with a run!
 Hope you are well! Peace!

Day 66

So I decided to weight in yesterday. Much to my surprise....down around 2-3 pounds. The scale was wavering between two opinions-182-183-so I'm glad about that!!
I decided to enjoy an easy run today. The pace would be around 50% effort. It was a good little jog. So 5 miles in today! 20 total so far with the goal of 25 this week. Hope you are well! peace!

Day 67

I think at times I am a whiner. Every little ache and pain causes me great alarm. I know as a runner that these discomforts are a fact of life....but today....well I didn't feel like running in the rain so I hit the treadmill. Oh the Treadmill is so forgiving! I decided to make the run fun so I did 8X.25 mile pickups @ 7mph with a minute rest in between each segment.
This has great benefits! I am even looking forward to doing some (modified) Yassos in the near future.
So 6 treadmiles today. Hope you are well! Peace!

Day 69-Indian Summer

I've been struggling to get my miles in...last Saturday was just to hectic and filled with ministry activity for me to get a run.
Sunday is always an off day. So Finally I got back on the road today. It is absolutely beautiful here! This spell of Indian Summer is so wonderful!
Shorts and a tank top on the run, sun, 75 degrees...perfect! 9 miles-kinda slow but got it done.
Hope you are well.....each day we have is a precious gift! Peace!

Day 72

So I am feeling like I'm not losing any weight. I have been diligent in watching and abstaining from wantless calories.
Today I slogged 3.1 miles. Felling fat....but not going to quit! Peace!

Day 73

Took yesterday off....last day of Indian Summer, too. It has cooled some, and that's not a bad thing! I enjoyed a 6 miler today. Did it in 63 minutes so I'm happy about that....I'm up to 18 miles this week with needing only 7 more!
That's good because I'm officiating a wedding this weekend and my Sisters husband is in critical condition at the Hospital.
So, I hope all is well with you! Peace!

Day 75

So I had to retire a pair of running shoes after yesterdays run. I got every bit I could out of them....there's nothing left for them to give. So, I will hand them down to knock arounds or wading shoes.
I do hope to get another pair of Kayanos though. Still can't beat that shoe! I do like the Brooks Ghost 8 that I got. They seem to serve well for short runs but fatigue the feet on longer jaunts.
I couldn't resist the Indian Summer temps today and ran a 4 miler. I am feeling pretty good....!
Hope all is well with you! Peace!

Day 76

Well I had a little bit of a slip in training. We had our grandchildren over the weekend...well that is a sort of training! I mean I was exhausted yesterday! Only had to skip one run but I was chasing a 5 and 2 year old for 2 days! I sure miss those kids, though!
It is Indian Summer here. The temps are 80ish, breezy, trees changing color, leaves falling....beautiful harvest moon, too.
I ran 8 miles as I'm getting back on track. The goal is to reach 25 miles this week and increase my long run on Mondays. So I am off to a good start!
Hope all is well with you! Peace!

Friday, October 14, 2016

Day 79

I ran 5 miles on the treadmill yesterday. I didn't feel like fighting the drizzle, wind, and cool temps so I stayed warm.
The day before I rested and today I will not run but I hope tomorrow will finish my cut down week.
So far the body is holding up and the mind is not burned out. I will ramp up a bit next week shooting for 25 miles total. Hope you are well! Peace!

Day 82

Usually I take Tuesday off but I have to be out of pocket Friday and Saturday so I need to get my miles in....an ez 3 miler with some hill reps thrown in for good measure. 80 degrees today! Hope you are well! Peace

Day 83

So yesterday at church someone asked if I was losing weight. They said my face was slimming down. Well isn't it funny that the weight comes off the face before the waist?
I barely notice any difference in girth but something must be happening. I'm waking up hungry!
Today was an absolutely perfect running day! 60ish, breezy from the south, and partly sunny. I took it easy as Mondays are always a difficult day for a Pastor.
7 miles in the books....feelin' fine! Hope all is well with you! Peace!!

Day 85

So Fall has arrived and today is beautiful!! I slogged along and completed my plan for this week-25 miles.
Next week is a cut down week. I will put in an easy 20 then gradually increase. Hope you are well! Peace!

Day 86

Today I realized why I love running in the Summer....the wind is appreciated. Today the temp was around 50 with a strong, blustery NW wind. Winter is reminding me it is coming. The trees are beginning to show their color. I love that I get to run in an area that is mostly forested. Even though it gets tiring running out and backs all the time!
Oh, I actually ran an 8:38 mile today!! Yes, the wind was to my back, and yes it was mostly downhill, but man that's encouraging!! What if I could string three of those together? I could run a competitive 5K! So 6.2 miles today. That leaves only 4.4 miles needed to reach this weeks goal!
   Hope you are well! Peace!

Day 88

We had quite the storm last night! Rain and wind. The air is heavy and moist today with warm temps. Absolutely perfect for getting the body loose!
I felt stiff and was thinking about taking off...glad I didn't. This was a good run today. Each mile got progressively faster and I really felt strong. What a difference one day can make!
5 miles even today. Hope you are well! Peace!

Day 89

Man time really does fly! Because time is so fleeting this is why discipline always pays off. Example: Saving money. If you start early and save consistently you will be prepared for emergency!
Running is an accumulation also. The miles we run are not lost, no they are accumulated into our runners soul. We can rely on theses miles to carry us through seasons of injury, lethargy, or plain old apathy.
Today was a sweet day! Breezy, warm and sunny! A short run was all I wanted-3.4 miles. I ran the big hill to make it fun!
   Hope you are well! Peace!

Day 90

Oh how I will miss you Summer....oh well, there is no stopping time. That goes for the stinkin' aging process! I am now relegated to several supplementary exercises in order to stay on the roads. Focusing on the Achilles and plantar fascia. Fortunately the body still responds. Also, I do three things to stay on the roads-get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of fluids, don't eat too much junk food.
I am quickly closing in on lifetime mile 25,000, too! ETA is sometime in early spring of 2017.
6 miles ez today. Feeling good...hope all is well with you! Peace!

Day 92

My knees have been sore.....whaaaaa! It seems it's always something. However; they don't hurt or bother me when I'm running so I'm not concerned.
I officiated a wedding today. I had to put on my suit, the pants are usually really tight but today I was almost comfortable in them.....Yes!!
I am committed to getting as thin as possible so I can compete in my age group. There are some really fast 60+year olds around here!
4.3 miles today-finished the week with 22.8 miles-next week increase 10%! Hope you are well! Peace!

Sauna

This is the most wonderful time of year! I love the heat and humidity! Yet I still get out earlier due to my advanced age! 4.4 miles! ...
