Nice and Easy

Had a nasty headache yesterday. No way was I going to run! What with Swine flu and colds swirling about like the leaves in fall I opted to hunker down and rest. I slept well last night and woke up feeling a little washed out but better. Ran bunches of errands in town and came home with a strong desire to run.
I have been a bad boy today! When I was buying some items at the Dollar General I added some Rolos and a Coke to the list!!!! Oh, man! Did the Rolos taste good! Now I feel fat!
I decided to keep the taper a taper and only ran 3.31 miles today! I dressed in my "Marathon Outfit". Does that sound funny? Marathon outfit? Fav shorts, new singlet, Kayano 15's perfectly broken in, marathon finishers hat, dry max socks.
I'm basically ready. I just want to run the distance. I've been working on my talk that I'm going to give the runners that morning. I'll share some of it later but basically (obviously) I'll analogize running with the Christian life.
So nice and easy today-3.31/ 32:59/ 9:57's. Now...the Coke!! Peace! (I'm feeling fat)

How funny. Marathon man wrote last week that he ate Good and Plentys and drank a Slurpee during taper, he was craving it! Sugar is replacing your craving for running, ha! Yes, by the way, marathon outfit does sound kind of funny but that's exactly what is it...not a uniform or a suit...just an outfit for running. Can't wait to hear a piece of your talk with the runners...

Trying out the marathon outfit is a must and it doesn't sound funny. Hey, shopping for my marathon outfit is half the fun of running a marathon! What can I say, I'm a girl. Glad you are feeling better. Enjoy the Rolos... I haven't had those in years but I loved them as a kid.

I've been on a "Rolos and Coke" (similar but not identical) binge since I returned from Portland Marathon and must pull myself back together. I love the pre-marathon outfit outting; I always stress about what to wear so you are good to plan well ahead. Can't wait to read your accounts of the race!! Good luck!

haha i always start feeling more-fat during taper - the reduced mileage makes me feel like i'm not doing anything (even though 30+ miles is nothing to snuff at!)

glad you are feeling better and enjoy the last couple of days before THE BIG RACE! you'll do great!

Yeah, what Lindsay said... Taper = Feeling Fat, even without the Rolos!

This is the most wonderful time of year! I love the heat and humidity! Yet I still get out earlier due to my advanced age! 4.4 miles! ...
