Rain rain!


    We are now in the second wettest Spring on record! Plus we are receiving additional rain today! I don't mind it but it is the lightning I don't like!
   Chose a speed work session 10X3min @ 8:50ish with 1 minute rest. Completed! It has been years since I've run a 5K! I have focused specifically on HM and Fulls so this kind of a nice change of pace (no pun intended!)
    I will probably only get two more runs in this week...next week looks all tangled up with obligations but I imagine I can get the necessary D in order to run respectable.

No quit!


   I think being susceptible to allergies increases as a person ages. I have really been battling lung congestion this week. However; I have not let that thwart my training! 5K here I come!
  I managed a 7.3 miler yesterday. My pace speed has been painfully slow but that's ok...I look to get my speed session in this week. Hope you are well! Peace!

Hog Heaven!


     Yessir! This humidity and heat is great! It'll make you work but also will melt the fat! I ran terribly slow but I had two things going against me.....fatigue from yesterday and lung congestion from allergies. I made it home alive! Finished with 24+ miles this week. Hope you are well! Peace!

Time trial


     I am aiming for a 5K so therefore I need to train race specific. Since a 5K is a short and fast effort I need some speed work. Sadly my speed work is not even my average training pace when I was a young man but such is the life of an older runner....you slow down!
   I was shooting for a 27:20ish 5K. I think this is now my range and I wasn't disappointed. I knocked off a 27:30! Now doubt I probably can run this a bit faster!!
   So I will try to lose more weight and keep the speed work coming! Hope you are well! Peace!

Hanging tough!


    My miles are increasing! 24 last week! I had a good speed session yesterday with one mile holding at around 8:50's. Today I put in 6.4 so I'm looking to have another great week. Shooting for the 5K in a couple of weeks, Hope you are well! Peace!

A little "speed"


   I like to use the treadmill at times for speed work. I have no real flat stretches out here, the speed on the mill is steady and you can't slow down, plus it is easier on the body. I set the incline on 1 degree and try to maintain good form. I did a mile warm up and then 10X1 min at 6.8mph.
  This particular pace is my goal pace for the 5K. I think I could run a sub 28. Well we've got severe thunderstorms coming! Hope all is well with you! Peace!

Plans made


    So, finally have decided on a race. June 24th a 5K. I think a shorter, faster type effort will be fun.
  Plus I have 5 weeks to prepare and my weight is down. All I need is to throw some speed play in during the week and I should be all set! Today it is nice and warm! 80ish with pretty decent humidity! 6.5 miles! I tuckered out towards the end but that's simply a fitness level issue.

Getting up there


    So I was dealing with sinus but still decided to run....seemed to work it out and I feel much better.
 3.5 miles. Along with yesterdays 6.3 I am getting up to my usual training pattern. I seriously need to get serious about specific training!? What race am I running? I'm just not sure what to do but I will figure it out! Hope you are well! Peace!

Heat!


  I love the Summertime! Technically it is still Spring but Summertime heat is coming on and I love it so much! I managed 6.3 miles today! Longest run in quite a while. Even had a fairly decent pace, too! Hope all is well with you! Peace!

  Another hour on the roads making this week very productive! I'm also holding right at 179 lbs so that is good. Sure would be nice to get down to 172!! Hope you are well! Peace!
