da...da...da...da..Stayin' alive, stayin' alive

That's about it.....I'm stayin' alive. Trying to maintain weight as I rest the heel and ankle. I still plan on running a marathon this year. I am in the throes of writing a book that I think will benefit folks, otherwise life is at a brisk pace...I'm keeping up with you all and consider you good friends! Keep running! Peace!

Froggy

The wonder of Nature!! I love the changing of the seasons. I've been watching all the different birds flitting around preparing the nests, the ponds are so alive with activity! The decibel level of the frogs in these ponds is truly amazing! It IS mating season!!
The temps are swinging from 50's to 70's and it is tornado season. We are in store for some possible threatening weather tonight. I don't know if you've ever been in a tornado but I can tell you it is a very frightening experience.
Time moves along, doesn't it? I managed another 30 min run with no "real" noticeable pain or discomfort. I'd like to run two more times this week. Thanks, friends, for your encouragement and kind words during this time for me. I really am bummed that I can't race! Hope your ponds are alive and your days blessed! Peace!

Pedagogic advancement

The term pedagogic generally refers to strategies of instruction-The study of being a teacher! I always encourage people to be learners, myself included! I am also a teacher. This profession runs in my family. My Grandpa was a Superintendent of schools, Grandma an art teacher, my Mom a special education teacher. There is definitely an art to teaching and it must be learned! How? For me, in regards to effective running, by experience. You all know I'm one of "those" now. Yes, the injured runner. However, I'm able to still run but not as much, as far, or as fast as I would like. So, what have I learned? What would I teach in regards to a semi-debilitating injury? For an old man like me (55), you can't be stubborn about resting. You will have to find alternative calorie burning exercises, you have to watch the caloric intake, you must keep the vision alive! I see myself "really" skinny! Breaking the (imaginary) tape at a marathon with the clock reading with a three as the first number. I will keep learning so I can keep teaching in all aspects of my life...you? 30 minutes today! Felt pretty good!:) Peace!

Pride Swallowed

Pride is an awful thing!! It can drive you to the point of no return! I have had to swallow mine on many occasions! It can also keep a runner on the shelf. No racing, no speed work, no trophies!
I am reeling in again! Taking Anne's advice I'll flatten out and try to get completely healed. Feeling better today...got a half hour in of mostly flat.
Enjoying the Spring like weather!! Sunny skies...south breeze, sweet 60 degree temps!! The Bluebirds are giving us much joy today, too. I put up a new house for them and they are digging it! Today Mizzou plays #2 Kansas...GO TIGERS!! I love March Madness! Peace!

Get back on the horse!

So I took three days of rest, the heel feels great it's the ankle that is the prob. I was thinking today all the years I 've run w/o injury and now I'm dealing with a real run buster!
I will keep doctoring the best I know how and try to continue running through this issue. Today I ran the full hill, 1.8 tenths long, and felt pretty good. I got my 30 mins in...I will take it day by day and see what the right foot/ankle says. Hope all is well with you! Peace!

Sauna

This is the most wonderful time of year! I love the heat and humidity! Yet I still get out earlier due to my advanced age! 4.4 miles! ...
