Good week

Well I knocked off 30.2 miles this week! Next week is a cut down week so I may throw some speed work in...Friday was my 109 minute run. I thought I'd die! Yes it was humid and warm but very breezy! I thought it was perfect. I started out too fast and by 1 hour I was totally done! I felt like I was in the last mile of a marathon...for 49 minutes!! Well I survived and look forward to a rest week. Lots of rain here....trees are growing good! Hope you are well!

Day off

We all know the importance of rest.....but!...have you ever noticed on off days you think about calorie consumption? Or you think, "I could do a short run!?"
The running passion (addiction) is strong! Yet I've found that on the off day I can begin to gear-up mentally and physically for the next run. Tomorrow I have a 109 minute run planned. Yes, I'm increasing by time not distance right now. So I can take in calories...good ones...and envision tomorrows effort. The purpose of which is to race! So I will enjoy the rest day!

Snakes and rain

I saw two snakes on my run yesterday. Oh what joy it is living in the woods! Basically they will try to get away from people but when we surprise them it can go bad....fortunately one was a green snake and the other a black rat snake. One thing this will do for a runner? Help us run faster!
Man we are getting the rain this June! As I type there is a torrential downpour! I will have to wait and maybe even get on the treadmill? I am continuing the 10% increase-by time- so today I hope for 72 minutes of snakeless running! Hope you are well!

I'm building!

So this will be the third week I've logged at least 25+ miles...that is if I finish the week:)! I'm using the 10% increase a week and the every fourth week recovery formula. I already have a nice string of 20+ mile weeks. The hoped for marathon is in November. This is going to be a "no pressure" marathon. Meaning I'm going to train diligently but not worry about a specific "time" I need to meet.
I may even run some 5 or 10K's along the way. Those can serve as speed work! I also hope to get lots of long runs in....hope all is well with you!

Sauna

This is the most wonderful time of year! I love the heat and humidity! Yet I still get out earlier due to my advanced age! 4.4 miles! ...
