Possibly laid up-

The recent HM had quite a level of difficulty. It is a very challenging course with some unreal gradients. No wonder the field was very small. During the race, probably about mile nine or ten, my right forefoot went numb? It was a weird deal and something I'd never experienced. I began to question my running intelligence! Why was I running a HM this soon after Bass pro, plus it was a stupid steep course....all I can think is "IDIOT!" There was no question I would finish the race. I had to endure being passed by four people during the last mile...demoralizing! I tried to spread my toes on the right foot to bring it to life...seemed to work. I even dealt with cramps? What's up with that?
Yesterday I was very sore, but the main problem was my right ankle. It's tweaked. Have you ever twisted or semi-sprained an ankle? It feels like a real minor tweaking and I seriously doubt I can run on it today. I'll rest today and try tomorrow. All I can think is "IDIOT!"
I've always healed fast and hardly ever dealt with an injury that lays me up so this is frustrating. All I can think is....
Peace!

Yikes, sorry to hear about the troubles. Give yourself a couple days and hopefully everything will be feeling back to normal.

So sorry. I do hope you heal quickly but don't wait too long to check with a doc.

Sorry about the injury. I used to tweak/twist my ankle often when I played basketball. Generally, it would heal quick with rest and ice. Hopefully, you will heal fast.

Oh man! That is not good! I hope you are back up and at em real soon! But not too soon!

I have sprained both my ankles a few times, old basketball injuries. They were pretty serious sprains and I did a lot of ice and compression and also electro shock. Sounds crazy, I know. I had my foot in a bucket of ice water (talk about stupid!) and wires attached to the ankle and thigh and somehow I did not die. :) I would take it easy for the first three days then back on the court for sure in a week, and those were serious sprains.

Take care of yourself and don't be so hard on yourself!

Was it the same foot with the achilles problems earlier? Maybe you need a new type of shoe with a lower arch?

Anne, yep...same foot. I was wondering about needing a different shoe, too. Oh boy, now the search begins....

I hope your ankle is feeling better soon. Definitely look into shoes to see if you need a different type of support.

Glad you were able to finish. Hope you can get a little rest now.

I twist and tweak my ankles when I'm trail running without trail shoes and often, it takes days before I can run again. I usually ice the area but don't stretch it! Rest is huge with this set back.

sorry to hear about your ankle, but glad you were able to finish! give your body a chance to rest and recover - it gets beat up more than we think in marathons/training for them.

So sorry to hear about the HM Mark. I know how frustration it is to deal with pain that keeps you from running.
I hope you feel complete relief after some rest.

Sorry to hear about the foot problems. Definitely rest up, try to resist the running urge and check out new shoe possibilities.

Ice and rest! Don't second guess yourself. You had a great experience and you will be back to running soon. You ran a smart race and made your best judgement. I hope you heal quickly.

This is the most wonderful time of year! I love the heat and humidity! Yet I still get out earlier due to my advanced age! 4.4 miles! ...
