Is it true?

Someone once told me that for every pound you lose you can run 2 seconds per mile faster! I wonder if that's true? Makes sense, huh? The lighter the faster, right ? I sure would like to get to where I am not carrying any extra weight! O if I could just cut out the junk! But I love sugar!!!
So I am thinking about trying to discipline myself when it comes to eating junk....good-bye Rolos! Good-bye-ice cream! Good-bye Coke! Good-bye cookies, cake, pies, I'm going to cry!? It's not good-bye yet but I'm thinking about it......I've always enjoyed limitless caloric intake because I run....what if I changed to limited caloric intake?
30 minutes of running today! Still feeling good and knocked off one really good mile....Peace!

I'm right there with you on trying to cut out junk. I was on a roll before my May marathon and just have not been able to get back on the wagon. I feel it in the mid-section... urgh.

Good luck! It is HARD!! Now, I heard soething similar to your 2 pound rule only a percentage. I can't remember exactly what it was but I will tell you this. I got sick in Dec and Jan and lost 11 pounds. I really did not exercise or run at all but when i started back up in Feb my times were ridiculous! As in fast! I went from around 9:30/mile to well in the 8's! I am consistantly running sub 9's and I am certain it is due to nothing but the weight loss! I didn't change anything in my training to explain the drop in times. So I am a believer! Cut the sugar, lose the pounds and cut your times!!!! You can do it!!!!

and on a totally random note the work verification for this comment is "cookis". Awfully close to cookies!

It is definitely true, actually I think it's more than 2 sec per mile. Think about it, carry a 3 pounds on your back and run with it, it's going to slow you down.
Cutting down doesn't mean good bye to goodies, just cutting down...

Oh my! The weather is spectacular! I managed another 30 minute run. So 5 short runs this week. Just kind of maintaining! Hope you are ...
